Mentorship

Formally and informally, I’m a confidant and mentor to writers, designers, and artists.

I've worked with college- and graduate-level writers in writing centers at Emerson College and St. Edward's University, as well as through Smarthinking.com. From 2010 to 2017, I coordinated the St. Edward's University Online Writing Lab (OWL) for students, faculty, and staff. This role encompassed

  • Tutoring and mentoring

  • Instructional design

  • Program coordination (assessments, reports, staffing, marketing)

  • Web content and digital workflow management, strategy, and architecture

  • Creating writing resources & leading workshops

At St. Edward's, I also cofacilitated a writing workshop for undergraduates in the College Assistance Migrant Program (CAMP).

As a scholar, I focused on the hybrid digital-print reading and writing environment and digital writing mentorship. Scholarship included

  • “Dear Writer: Tapping the Legacy of Correspondence for the Asynchronous OWL.” Innovations in Consulting Models, South Central Writing Centers Assoc., Univ. of Texas–Austin, Feb. 2015. Conference presentation.

  • “Reading for Context, Reading for Sense.” Against the Grain, Spring 2015 (with Margaret Warner). Print.

  • “The Sanctuary and the Food Truck: Placing Experience ‘in’ the Asynchronous OWL,” Online Places and Spaces for the Writing Center, Computers and Writing, Washington State Univ.–Pullman, 2014. Conference presentation.
